1. Who processes your data?

The Rankmates service (hereinafter the “Service”) is responsible for the processing of data collected via the website and the app. For any data protection questions: contact@rankmates.net.

2. What Rankmates does

Rankmates is an AI-powered matchmaking service for video-game players, designed to suggest compatible matches/teams and provide social features.

3. Data we process

• Account: email, username, preferences, settings.
• Security: technical logs (IP addresses, user-agent, timestamps), authentication events.
• Analytics: aggregated traffic statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics – cookie-free).
• Advertising (if you consent): advertising identifiers and ad-related information (Google AdSense).
• Support: content of requests and exchange metadata.

4. Purposes and legal bases

• Providing the Service and managing the account (creation, access, features) — performance of a contract.
• Security, fraud prevention, and continuity — legitimate interest.
• Audience measurement with Cloudflare Web Analytics — legitimate interest (cookie-less/identifier-less; no individual targeting).
• Advertising (personalized AdSense) — consent; if refused, only contextual/non-personalized ads may be shown.
• Legal obligations (accounting, requests from authorities) — legal obligation.

5. Recipients and processors

• Hosting/CDN & security: Cloudflare (edge network, CDN/WAF) and Cloudflare Web Analytics (aggregated statistics).
• Advertising: Google (AdSense) as an advertising partner.
• Email delivery: Resend (transactional emails).

Some of these vendors may act as independent controllers for their own purposes (e.g., Google for advertising).

6. Transfers outside the EEA

Some providers (e.g., Google) may process data outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, appropriate safeguards are implemented (Standard Contractual Clauses and supplementary measures) to ensure an adequate level of protection.

7. Retention periods (indicative)

• Account: as long as the account is active, then deletion or anonymization within 12 months after closure.
• Security logs: up to 12 months.
• Support: 24 months.
• Consent choices (cookies): 6 months.
• Advertising (cookies/IDs): up to 13 months (per Google).

8. Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection (including objection to advertising profiling), and portability. You can exercise these rights from your RankMates account space or by email at contact@rankmates.net. You may also contact your competent supervisory authority (CNIL in France).

9. Minors

The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, a parent/guardian’s authorization may be required depending on your country.

10. Automated decisions and profiling

The Service uses algorithms to suggest matches. These processes do not produce legal effects solely based on automated processing. You can disable personalized advertising by refusing the corresponding cookies.

11. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures: TLS encryption, password hashing, access control, security logs, and backups.

12. Changes

This policy may evolve. In case of significant changes, we will inform users via a notice on the site and/or in-app notification.
